So. Tonight will be day 5 of Lupron. Yes, the little needle part is great and side effects haven't been horrible. However I do have a few questions for those of you that have used it. This is what I have going on.
- bloating
- constipation
- headaches but only one doozie
- low back pain
- some sharp ovary area pains
- tears
- more easily irritated at work
Are these pretty common? I'm not going to complain because I know that Menopur and Bravelle are going to come with their own set of issues and mine aren't super bad. BUT. Is this normal? Or am I just having a bad week? :)
My husband has done a great job giving me the shots so far. Day one, I didn't even feel the needle go in.. Day two, he decided to go in fast since slow worked great the night before and it hurt pretty bad. Day three, go back to slow.. Well you get the idea. The stim phase starts on Wednesday so Dr. Lost will get to give me two shots a night instead of one. The two viles of Bravelle and one vile of Menopur can all be mixed together (whew). I will also go in for my first baseline check since starting the lupron on Wednesday.
Menopause has been fun.
I know everyone is different and reacts differently to medications. But, Lupron was the worst one for me by far. Since it suppresses all your estrogen, I felt like crap all over. I know I had all the symptoms you listed above and a fear more. In fact I was so happy to start stims. My clinic told me that you will feel better after starting your stimulation medications because your levels are rising. Hoping your baseline goes well!
ReplyDeleteI unfortunately don't have any help with the Lupron, but YAY for getting started! That's soooo exciting! Hope the stim meds treat you well and are as painless as possible!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I honestly don't remember. My Lupron cycle was almost a year ago. Hope your symptoms subside.
ReplyDeleteI don't know anything about it, but hope it gets you one step closer to your sweet baby!
ReplyDeleteI know it's different for everyone, and I have heard women say they felt like the pits on Lupron. I only felt like crap on the BCP's and from the trigger shot for retrieval. I will say that maybe you have better days ahead after Wednesday. I know for me, my body LOVES the stims. I'm in a better mood, higher sex drive, more energy. I think it's all that estrogen flooding the body from the stims, and I've heard lots of women say they feel fantastic while stimming. Hopefully better days are right around the corner for you!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emily, Lupron was the worst for me (mainly headaches and more emotional, but that could have been from the emotions of doing IVF in general). the stims didn't leave me aNY side effects. the "toughest" side effect is after egg retrieval once you stop the meds. A couple days of bad bloating. Nothing killer but that was the worst for me.
ReplyDeleteI have no answers on the lupron but ouch! Girl I am sorry you are dealing with all those side effects!
ReplyDeleteHeadaches.....oh the headaches, they're horrible. I have them too :(. XO
ReplyDeleteNever was on Lupron but Menopur never really bothered me. Ganirelix is the one that always kicked my butt, just cause it stung so bad. Thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteDon't have any advice on Lupron since I have never taking it. Wishing you the best with your stims. Menopur hurt some days and others I didn't feel as uncomfortable. Ganirelix was the worst for me.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could help, I've never taken it, but I'm excited that you're getting started!!
